Faith and Phones

Faith and Phones

“Oh My, I have forgotten my phone, I guess I will go without it.” How many times have you heard that? Honestly, probably not a lot. Very few can fathom not having their “life line to the world” and we would surely not want to go too long without them. We will be late for appointments and drive many miles back to our homes to retrieve our devices, just to have them with us.

So what if we felt the same way about our Faith; that we couldn’t think to leave home without it. That we would not start our days and surely not our cars without saying a prayer and asking God to be with us. That we would not leave home without knowing Jesus is by our side. Wouldn’t it be amazing?

Our dedication to anything comes from our priorities; what we put first in our lives. In our fast-paced world we are taught to live for the moment, to be in the know, and to follow what we are hearing and seeing. Our phones are that connection to what everyone else is doing “Right Now”. Faith on the other hand tells us to look to the past, to learn from what was, and to follow that into the future. Now don’t get me wrong, I will be the first to admit it is easy to focus on the “here and now” compared to “there and then” but only one can prepare us for “what will be”.

Phones and Faith will be a major part of our lives for a long time to come but always remember when choosing between the two; God had the plans for the first wireless communication way before man was created, He called it “Prayer”, it is fully hands free, it is recharged by the Word of Scripture, and it has an all-powerful network called the Holy Spirit. The best part of all; it can be gotten with an all-inclusive “Family Plan” called church.

God has got this all under control, don’t let the world get you worried. Phones are very useful and even fun but faith is still the key to having a peaceful life.
