God's Plans
Had one of those long quiet drives the other morning. The kind where you are alone and you find a good Christian radio station and actually listen to the words of the songs. God is truly talking to us in so many ways. It made me think of how He tried in the Old Testament by Himself, then through the judges and kings and prophets. But no one seemed to listen. So Jesus came as one of us, a human being, and we didn’t listen well then either. Now God has people writing music with lyrics that tell us the message of His love. Whether it be through classic hymns or contemporary Christian music, God is looking for a way to get our attention! When we truly quiet our minds and leave the world’s turmoil’s to themselves, we will hear the answers to our prayers. We will hear what God wants us to be doing, where He wants us to be. It probably isn’t exactly what we asked for but He has a bigger plan than we can fathom.
As I was driving I met several “40” county cars heading for the basketball tournaments in Lincoln. “40” county was always home, but now it isn’t. I thought of how many times I prayed for “more” while I lived there and it never seemed to happen. Now I understand that God had a bigger plan for my life. He didn’t want me to get comfortable in my own desires and wishes. Jesus told us the story in the Bible IF we would listen:
Luke 12:16-21
16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, “What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.” 18 Then he said, “This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain”. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” 20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?” 21 “This is how it will be for whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”
Don’t pray for your own plans, don’t pray for more where you are at, pray that you have patience to understand God’s plans. They are so much bigger and better. Don’t trust my words on this; “ Believe and Trust in Jesus!” He will surprise you.
