About us

Here at Living Word our goal is to help those looking for the reason to believe; to find their answer. As we put our trust in our one Lord Jesus Christ, we hope to show new and old believers His words, His love, and His saving Grace which He gave to us on the cross.

As pastor I want people to find a place where they can be comfortable knowing Jesus Christ as their Savior, where faith in God and His Word reign. A place where understanding the ways of God will make their lives better, and when troubles do arise we can come together in common trust in the words of Philippians 4:7:

“And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Living Word Lutheran Church was established August 22, 2010, in Seward Ne. We are part of a church organization called Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ [LCMC]. It is not a synod but an organization of churches that believe the power of the church lies in its members. This gives each church the authority to call and ordain its own pastoral leadership. Each church is in charge of its own treasury and designations. It puts freedom back into the hands of the people. We do not believe in a membership to a club but an adoption into the family of believers. For when you are part of a family it means so much more.

A little about myself. I started life on a dairy farm in northeast Nebraska. I worked industrial maintenance for 35 years but then I was given a new plan in life. God reminded me of the call He had given me when I was about twelve. The one that I ignored and went on with my life. I was ordained in 2017 at the age of 56 here at Living Word Lutheran in Seward as a second career pastor. My goal is to help others find what faith is all about. I have said many times “religion is hard, faith is easy”  we should never get too caught up in religion for Jesus Christ came to show us the way, the truth, and the life. Not to be a  “_______”  you fill in the blank. I strive to be a pastor who is approachable but not interfering. I believe faith is a journey and I am here to walk beside you, not above or below. I welcome questions and take concerns very seriously. I will pray with and for you at any time. I pray that God will become as important to you as He is for me now that I have accepted Him in my life.

Living Word Lutheran Statement of Faith

Living Word Church is a congregation of believers which holds that the Holy Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God without error in the original writing and is the infallible authority in all matters of faith and life. That by the authority of the written word in the Bible we believe:

  • That all are welcome here to worship in humbleness and respect in the belief of the one Triune God:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

  • That Jesus died for all sinners

  • That God is the final authority over all mankind

  • That we should nurture our personal relationship with Jesus Christ through intentional prayer, study, and worship.

  • That the sanctity of a marriage is between one man and one woman.

  • That life begins at conception.

  • That regular partaking of the sacrament of Holy Communion is a part of a true faith life.
